INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange pilots an open call for the Environmental Humanities Fellowship 2026 with the focus theme Landscapes of War and Ecocide. This Fellowship will host two creative practitioners (one from Ukraine, one international) for a three-month residency in Lviv from July till September 2026. Fellows will document, preserve, and critically analyse the war’s impact on Ukrainian environments, with the option to integrate comparative or transnational perspectives.

Ukraine faces a rapidly growing road-reconstruction funding gap—now estimated at €12 billion—as well as extensive wartime damage to over 25,000 km of roads and 340 bridges and an aging truck fleet in which only 10% of new registrations are modern vehicles.
