Sustainability in Agriculture: What Ukrainian Agribusinesses Need to Know

Organiser: Information Center “Green Dossier”

Format: online

CSRD, CSDDD, ESG — these acronyms are rapidly becoming part of the everyday vocabulary of Ukrainian agribusinesses and advisory services. In fact, there is nothing radically new about them — they reflect the principles of sustainable development that EU countries have long acknowledged and embedded into policy.

However, in Ukraine, despite over two decades of promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and awareness-raising efforts, real understanding only began to take root when sustainability reporting became a formal requirement within the EU integration process.

Running an agricultural business with care for the environment, responsibility toward communities, and business transparency is quickly becoming the new norm for Ukraine. The country has adopted a national Strategy for Sustainability Reporting and is actively preparing businesses for the shift. The National Bank of Ukraine is advancing ESG-aligned financing, and commercial banks are beginning to include ESG reporting requirements in their loan conditions.

Agribusiness representatives, exporters, analysts, civil society organizations, and all those interested in Ukraine’s EU integration and sustainable development in the agricultural sector are invited to join an open online discussion which will address the following questions:

  • Why are sustainability requirements already affecting Ukrainian companies?

  • What do CSRD, CSDDD, and ESG mean in practice — and when will they become mandatory

  • What data is needed for sustainability reporting?

  • How can agribusinesses prepare and where can they find support?

  • How is the EU reshaping sustainability expectations in the agri-food sector?
