Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is suffering from constant Russian attacks, which threaten the operation of critical utilities, including water supply. To find ways to address this problem, Ecoclub, with the support of Oxfam, implemented a pilot project to install solar power plants (SPPs) for water supply systems in war-affected regions.

As part of the project, 10 feasibility studies were prepared, and three solar power plants were installed in Sumy, Myrhorod, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi together with the communities. The technical documentation’s conclusions show that SPPs can significantly improve the reliability of water supply and sewage during attacks on energy infrastructure and pay for themselves in 5-10 years.

We invite you to the event “Increasing the Sustainability of Water Supply in Communities through Solar Power Plants”, during which organisers will present:

• the first experience of communities based on the results of installing SPPs for water utilities;

• average cost, technical characteristics, and humanitarian benefits;

• financial instruments needed by Ukrainian communities to accelerate the implementation of RES.

Speakers will also discuss policy recommendations and regulatory improvements and provide recommendations for improving the legal framework for the dissemination of such projects.
