Sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine is impossible without compliance with environmental standards. However, during the war, two important procedures - environmental impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA) - were significantly curtailed. This poses risks to the environment, human health, and ultimately to investor confidence. These procedures should become tools that guarantee transparency, accountability, and compliance with European standards in the implementation of projects and reconstruction plans.
Join the online discussion that will cover the following questions:
Why is the full application of EIA and SEA critical for Ukraine's European integration?
What role does the public play in decision-making and how can the international community support these processes?
How can EIA and SEA become the basis for sustainable and transparent reconstruction of Ukraine?
The event will also feature a new analytical paper with recommendations from Ecoclub and WWF-Ukraine on how to improve EIA and SEA procedures in Ukraine.
