According to the International Organisation for Migration, as of March this year, about 3.4 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) were registered in Ukraine. Despite being guaranteed the right to housing by the state, IDPs often end up renting the accommodation. The share of social housing is extremely small, and the policy in this area has never been systematic.
At the event, experts will discuss what programmes are currently available to support IDPs with housing and who funds them, how the government is developing legislation and approaches to creating a social housing fund.
Invited participants:
Natalia Kozlovska, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine;
Serhii Sukhomlyn, Head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine;
Kostiantyn Belikov, Deputy Mayor of Kryvyi Rih;
Tetiana Boiko, coordinator of housing and communal programmes at the Civil Network OPORA;
Ivan Verbytskyi, Cedos expert;
Grzegorz Gajda, Senior Sector Economist, European Investment Bank (EIB);
Kyrylo Kryvolap, Managing Partner of Civitta in Ukraine, co-founder of the Centre for Economic Recovery.
