Organisers: Green Deal Ukraina, Kyiv Energy and Climate Lab (KECLab)
Format: online
The workshop will bring together experts from ministries, universities, research institutions and companies to discuss how scientific cooperation between Ukraine, Germany and Poland can contribute to the reconstruction and development of Ukraine’s energy system.
The discussion will explore the following questions across three thematic areas:
What are the key research questions in each area?
What is Ukraine currently doing in these areas?
How could Ukraine and Germany collaborate?
The research areas are:
Solar and batteries: state of research on solar cells and batteries and their combined use; next-generation technologies such as sodium-ion batteries and perovskite and tandem solar cells.
Island capability and smart grids: grid-forming inverters, microgrids that can run in island mode, smart grids, grid protection and the operation of a power system under attack.
Modelling the future energy system: what models are used for the Ukrainian energy system, and what is the role of AI?
