Lecture on Land Use and Land Governance in Ukraine

Organiser: Ro3kvit - Urban Coalition for Ukraine

Format: online

How do communities make decisions about land during and after the war? Who decides how land is used in cities and municipalities? Why is the local level crucial for sustainable development and the recovery of Ukraine?

In this lecture, experts will present the results of a study conducted in Vinnytsia municipality: how local authorities view future land use, what factors influence decision-making, and why their long-term role in land conservation often remains “invisible.”

Speakers:

  • Oleksandr Anisimov, doctoral researcher in spatial planning at Aalto University, Ro3kvit researcher, head of the NGO "New Housing Policy", head of the annual international symposium "Rebuilding a place to call home"

  • Yehor Vlasenko, PhD student and doctoral assistant at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, formerly GIZ project advisor and director of the CANactions educational program.

  • Peter Lacoure, Doctor of architecture, lecturer and researcher at University College Ghent. His research focuses on “no net land take” policies.

Moderator: Lilet Breddels, Project Manager at Ro3kvit.
