Solar Power for Ukrainian Hospitals

In response to the energy crisis caused by Russian aggression, an important project to install solar power stations (SPS) in hospitals has been launched in Ukraine. This project, implemented by the RePower Ukraine charitable foundation, aims to provide medical facilities with a reliable source of electricity, which is critical for the uninterrupted operation of vital equipment.

Main project objectives:

  • Increasing energy independence of hospitals

  • Ensuring continuous power supply for critical medical equipment

  • Reducing the load on the centralized power grid

  • Cutting hospital electricity costs

  • Promoting the transition to renewable energy sources

The installation of SPS allows hospitals to significantly reduce dependence on centralized power supply, especially in conditions of frequent power outages. This ensures the continuous operation of important medical equipment such as ventilators, oxygen concentrators, diagnostic and surgical equipment. Moreover, the use of solar energy contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving the environmental situation in the region.

To date, RePower Ukraine has successfully implemented 4 similar projects in various hospitals across Ukraine, two in the Kharkiv region and two in the Kyiv region. These projects demonstrate the high efficiency and importance of implementing alternative energy sources in medical facilities.

The project implementation process includes several stages:

1. Assessing the needs of a specific hospital and developing an optimal technical solution

2. Procurement of necessary equipment (solar panels, inverters, batteries, etc.)

3. Installation and configuration of the system

4. Training hospital staff on SPS operation and maintenance

5. Monitoring and evaluating system performance

RePower Ukraine is constantly looking for partners and donors to implement future SPS installation projects in hospitals throughout Ukraine. Your support will help make Ukrainian hospitals more energy-independent and resilient to crisis situations, ultimately contributing to improved quality of medical care for the population.
