Does Ukraine have enough gas? Financing the upcoming heating season

Organisers: Centre for Economic Strategy (CES) and German Economic Team

Format: online

Following Russian strikes, Ukraine’s gas infrastructure has suffered significant damage. The country has lost a substantial portion of its production and finished the heating season with record-low gas reserves.

Estimates suggest that Ukraine needs between $1.5 billion and $3 billion to secure the necessary gas supplies. Donors are willing to cover only partially this amount. Where will the funds come from, and what can be done to get through the coming winter?

Join to hear from experts reviewing the main changes in the country’s economy over the past month and covering the special topic dedicated to the energy sector and preparations for the new heating season.

Event schedule:

17:00 – 17:05 Opening remarks by Garry Poluschkin, Project Manager GET in Ukraine.

17:05 – 17:20 Review of the Ukrainian economy, CES team.

17:20 – 17:30 Special topic review, Oleksandr Kharchenko, Managing Director at EIR Center.
