Conference "Energy-efficient reconstruction of Ukrainian cities"

Organisers: Centre for Environmental Initiatives “Ecoaction”, Berlin Economics, Bucha City Council, Association “Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine” and the Covenant of Mayors

Format: in person, online recording available

During the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 2,000 residential buildings were damaged or completely destroyed in Bucha alone. Reconstruction in line with the highest energy efficiency standards “Near Zero” will help to save up to 74% of energy resources. These results were shown in the study “Green Reconstruction of the Residential Sector: Technical and Economic Analysis for the City of Bucha”, presented at the conference “Energy-Efficient Reconstruction of Ukrainian Cities”.

The conference also featured discussions with national and local government officials on how to encourage communities and developers to renovate buildings to the highest standards, what barriers they face, and what communities need to rebuild energy efficiently.
